Former boxing champ Lennox Lewis and Will Smith to be pall bearers at Muhammed Ali's funeral


Former world heavyweight champion and boxing’s greatest legend, Muhammad Ali, is set to be given his final farewell in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, on Friday, June 10. Tens of thousands are expected to attend Muhammad Ali's funeral and undisputed world heavy weight champion Lennox Lewis will be joined by Will Smith as pall-bearers for The Greatest


Ali, born Cassius Clay jnr, passed away on Friday, June 3, after developing respiratory problems, which developed into complications. This compounded the boxer’s three decade fight against Parkinson’s, leading to his death.

His family has announced that Lennox Lewis, the former world heavyweight champion, would be one of the pallbearers for the ceremony. Lewis remains the last undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.




Award winning actor Will Smith would also act as a pallbearer at the funeral. Smith played the enigmatic athlete in the 2001 film ‘Ali’, a performance which earned him an Academy award nomination.

The other pallbearers would include Jerry Ellis, the brother of Jimmy Ellis- Ali’s former sparring partner and fellow world heavyweight champion- Ali’s cousins John Grady and Jan Wadell, nephew Ibn Ali, former brother-in-law Komawi Ali and family friend John Ramsey.
