Dana Air Responds to Blog Reader Who Called Them Out

Earlier today, A blog reader recounted with photo a very sad situation aboard a Dana flight. The carrier added a seat in what was supposed to be an emergency exit.

Find Dana's response after the cut:

 Hi,

Please find below requirements to sit at the emergency exit

- A passenger is briefed on how to operate the door as quickly as possible in an unlikely event of an emergency

- For anybody to sit here, he/she must be 18 and able bodied
- Must be able to speak English and hear well.
- Must be ready to help others during emergency
- An elderly person cannot sit at an emergency exit.

If a passenger doesn't have the capability to sit at the emergency exit, he/ she is asked to sit elsewhere.

Just to mention a few.

In  the case of the pic shown,  the aircraft handle is attached to the door in such a way that if you open the emergency exit, the door goes off with the arm rest of the sit which means there is no obstruction.

Also as shown, the sit in front usually doesn't have a tray table which means when a passenger sitting at  the emergency exit  is being served, he/she is giving a tray.

Every aircraft has its own configuration and that is the configuration of our aircraft.

Many thanks
