Detectives in the West African country arrested Arthur Simpson-Kent, who is wanted for the murder of his partner Sian Blake and their two children, Zachary, eight, and Amon, four.
The 48-year-old was captured in a town in the west of the country, where he is thought to have been hiding out since fleeing London following the death of Miss Blake and her sons.
Scotland Yard launched a murder investigation after their bodies were discovered in the garden of the
family home in Erith, Kent. A Scotland Yard spokesman said:
"Detectives have today, Saturday, January 9, been made aware of an arrest in Ghana.A missing person's investigation was started on December 16, after police visited the family home in Erith, south east London. However, the murder investigation was not launched until almost three weeks later, when the bodies of Miss Blake and the two young boys were discovered in the back garden of the property.
"We are currently working alongside the Ghanaian authorities but are not in a position to discuss further at this time."
Ms Blake's sister Ava said Simpson-Kent will have to "answer to God" if he was responsible for their deaths.
